Barcelona Loft

Let this turn of the 19th century apartment engulf you

The exhilarating part of this once family home was to peel away the decades of modifications - relieving beautiful elements like the typical Viga Catalana (arched ceiling),  the ‘baldosa hydraulica’ floors - typical to Barcelona, and perfectly restoring the century old wood windows and roof beams.

The previous room divisions are still evident on the floor as we kept the original floor patterns to flow through the new open plan living space.

All this was done using natural and traditional materials like limestone and natural bees wax, giving this apartment a experience like having taken a step back in time.

The hightlight of the restauration was when we discovered the original century old fresco, buried under 7 layers of paint and wallpaper. This fresco masterfully restored by an italian fine arts restorer gives an amazing backdrop to the kitchen.
